As much as I am a trend enthusiast, I do prefer to invest in timeless and classic pieces. The thing with fast fashion is that the trends emerge and disappear within a season. Out of a sudden, you see something that is a la mode and every retailer will stock this look and everyone will be wearing the same style in different variations. We are then visually bombarded with this trending fad in forms of social media and advertising until we get sick and tired of let’s say, the gladiator sandal or emerald green or fur vests. Good thing, there is already the next ‘it’ item that is on fleek!
Don’t get me wrong, I do love shopping and I do love following new trends because it’s fun! As I get older, though, I worry much less about having to hunt down the new sold out item X but much rather take my time to collect wardrobe pieces that will stand the test of time.
One of these iconic wardrobe staples are camel coats. Camel is soft and feminine, yet not too girly or dramatic. It can be matched easily but rich enough to be a statement piece in its own right. These coats make one look classy and luxurious no matter how you style it. I prefer mine long, minimal and made of wool or another soft but sturdy material. If you own a camel coat, I am pretty sure you won’t end up hauling it to the consignment store by the end of the season but that pretty little thing will be occupying your closet for quite some time.
The coat pictured on me is my own from a few seasons ago, so you cannot have the exact one but I have listed similar ones of various price points for you to check out. Here is also a great article on NYmag.com titled “The 17 Best Camel Coats” that is compilation of different styles for every budget. Enjoy!
